Fellowship Dialogue Society Plans For Community Contact

10.32.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 3rd Jul 2009

Eastleigh MP Chris Huhne met leading Eastleigh and Southampton members of the Fellowship Dialogue Society to discuss their plans for inter-faith and inter-community understanding.

The Society, which is largely formed by people of Turkish origin, organises Saturday schools to enable members of the Turkish community to learn English and Turkish, together with many other events such as a recent tour of the UK by whirling dervishes.

The delegation presented Chris Huhne with a Turkish coffee set in honour of his work for better community relations.

Chris Huhne said: "The work of the Fellowship Dialogue Society is commendable in promoting better understanding of Turkish traditions among long-standing British residents as well as English language and traditions among those of Turkish origin".

The group is organising a tour of parliament for members and their families to understand British parliamentary traditions.
